Casa Ribera

"Casa Ribera" is a 2 bedroom, newly built cottage set in the heart of the river Ebro valley with gardens leading directly to the river. It is situated next to the owner's villa but is secluded and completely private.

Nestling in the heart of the countryside in working, rural Spain, the cottage is surrounded by orange, lemon, fig, olive and peach trees along with flowers, plants and bushes. The garden leads directly to the banks of the river Ebro, a sheltered, secluded spot for relaxing. A short walk along the lane brings you to the banks of the river Ebro - perfect for fishing.

A haven of peace and quiet, yet only a 10 minute drive from the bustling, lively town of Tortosa with all its shops, markets, fiestas, bars and restaurants. A 20 minute drive brings you to the beautiful coastline of the Costa Dorada with its many thriving seaside resorts and sandy beaches. The towns on the Costa Dorada are famous for their fish and there are hundreds of high quality restaurants serving the catch of the day. Also here is the Ebro Delta, a flat plain, full of interest, from the rice fields to the flamingoes.

Another 10 minute drive takes you up into the spectacular scenery of the Els Ports mountains, a Natural Park with stunning views, quaint Spanish villages and exciting wildlife.

Situated as it is in such a wonderful area, there are a host of different activities that you can undertake whilst you are here. For the fishing fans, the river Ebro is world famous for its fish, particularly the huge catfish that have been caught here. You need a license to fish, but is easily obtained in town. 	This carp was caught by one of our visitors in May, 2007.  Even though the bank was soft after the recent floods, he was determined to catch something.  And, within a few minutes, he did!

The area is wonderful for mountain biking, with signposted trails and the Via Verde - purpose built cycling and walking trails close by. Horse riding, hiking, kayaking, diving, are also some of the many other activities available.

The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard, with everything you could need to provide you with a care-free, enjoyable holiday. There are 2 bedrooms, each with twin beds which can be arranged as a double or 2 singles and an additional sofa bed in the lounge provides sleeping for another 2. The kitchen is fully equipped and along with the usual kitchen items, there is a washing maching, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board. There is a dining table seating 4 people. Satelite TV means you won't even miss your favourite TV programmes and a DVD player and CD player/radio help to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. We provide a very good selection of books and games to help you enjoy your holiday.

Outside, there is your own private, covered terrace complete with an outdoor dining table for 6, loungers and your own b-b-q. Just a few steps away is the swimming pool and a small play area for children.  Both pool and play area are within easy sight of the cottage. The play area also has a full size table-tennis table for your use. Cars are parked on a shady parking area (essential for those hot, sunny days) and there is an outdoor kitchen area in addition to your private b-b-q. These facilities are shared with the owners.

A large field provides a playing area for the more energetic and we have a range of toys and games available.

At the bottom of the field you will be greeted by our 2 resident donkeys, Pippa and her son Paco. Pippa is trained to take a saddle and can offer donkey rides to children. Next to the donkeys are our 6 chickens. Although still young, they should soon be laying organic, free-range eggs which we hope to be able to offer to our guests.

We aim to be child-friendly and can provide a baby/toddler pack if required for a small additional cost.  (Pack consists of cot and bedding, highchair, bath, potty, baby walker, blender, children's crockery and paddling pool.)
